There is plenty to see and do in the Rotterdam area. One of Rotterdam’s most iconic landmarks is the magnificent Erasmus Bridge, nicknamed “the Swan,” which spans the Maas River. Another building you should definitely visit in Rotterdam is the Market Hall, a covered market with a variety of stalls where you can sample local and international delicacies. The interior of the Market Hall is adorned with a massive work of art, the Horn of Plenty, which adds color and life to the space. The highest point in the city is the Euromast, a 185-meter-tall tower offering panoramic views of the city. For the truly adventurous, there’s the option to rappel down from the Euromast. A real eye-catcher is the former flagship of the Holland-America Line: the SS Rotterdam. Here, you can hold meetings, stay overnight, or simply take a guided tour and enjoy a snack or a drink on board. Art lovers will, of course, want to visit the Museum Boijmans Van Beuningen. This museum houses an impressive collection of works by famous artists such as Rembrandt, Van Gogh, Mondrian, and Dalí. You can also explore Europe’s largest port, for example, by canal boat. The history of the Port of Rotterdam dates back to the 14th century, when the city of Rotterdam began to grow as an important trading center. Today, the Port of Rotterdam is a massive complex spanning an area of approximately 12,500 hectares. It comprises several harbors, docks, terminals, and storage facilities where a wide range of goods is handled, from raw materials and energy products to containers and foodstuffs. There are several options for boat tours through the harbor and along the Maas River.
