Venlo may seem cozy at first glance—but as soon as the team event begins, this charming Limburg town quickly transforms into a stage for ambition, team spirit, and plenty of fits of laughter. Between the historic old town, the lively market, the Meuse River, and the cozy street cafés, there’s plenty of room for big plans… and even bigger detours. As soon as the day begins, everyone automatically slips into their favorite role. There’s the colleague who declares himself team leader without consulting anyone. The strategist draws up a plan with arrows, circles, and notes that, in the end, no one understands anymore. And, of course, there’s the optimist who says “Take it easy, we’ve got this!” at every challenge—usually exactly two minutes before the team realizes they’ve gone in the wrong direction. Venlo combines historic buildings with a cozy, Burgundian atmosphere. While some colleagues want to explore the city, others find their way to every terrace along the route surprisingly quickly. “Just a quick drink” regularly turns into a meeting that lasts suspiciously long. Of course, a little bit of team chaos is part of the fun. At some point, five adults are passionately debating a task, even though the solution is already right there on the tablet. Meanwhile, the other team strolls by, completely relaxed—which, of course, is immediately dismissed as a “psychological tactic.”

A corporate event trip to Venlo combines the best of both worlds: the Burgundian charm of Limburg and the cozy atmosphere of a historic city. With its lively market, picturesque alleys, the Meuse River, numerous boutiques, and many cozy cafes and restaurants, Venlo is the perfect place to leave the daily grind behind with your colleagues. The mood shifts the moment you arrive. Suddenly, it’s no longer about emails or meetings, but about the really important questions: “Where can we find the best vlaai?”, “Which outdoor seating area should we choose?”, and of course: “Are we actually still on the right track?” That last question comes up surprisingly often—even though Venlo isn’t all that big.
As you stroll through the historic downtown, there’s something to discover around every corner. Charming squares, cozy shopping streets, and the promenade along the Meuse River make even a small detour a pleasure. At least that’s what my colleague claims, the one who, with full conviction, suggested a “shortcut” and accidentally led the team into the nearest shopping street. Purely by chance, of course.
Of course, the typical team dynamic also develops along the way. The foodie spots every outdoor dining area from a distance, the amateur photographer wants to capture every historic facade, and the self-proclaimed tour guide explains at every building, “I know an interesting story about that.” Whether it’s true is another question entirely. Whether it’s a company outing, an incentive trip, or a multi-day corporate event—Venlo delights with its hospitality, culinary delights, and relaxed atmosphere. This is where memories are made that will keep the office talking for a long time to come. Especially the story of the coworker who wanted to pop into a store “just for a moment” and reappeared twenty minutes later with three shopping bags and a slice of vlaai.
As soon as the days grow shorter and the scent of mulled wine, roasted almonds, and freshly baked waffles wafts through the streets, The Hague shows off its coziest side. The festively lit city center, atmospheric Christmas markets, and winter-decorated squares create the perfect backdrop for an unforgettable Christmas celebration or a winter team event.
Amid twinkling string lights, lovingly decorated stalls, and the historic streets around the Binnenhof and the city center, the Christmas spirit comes all on its own. Of course, there’s also plenty of discussion about the most important question of the day: “Mulled wine first, or a bratwurst?” A decision that requires a surprising amount of teamwork.
At the Christmas markets, there’s something to discover around every corner. While some colleagues are searching for the best Christmas gifts, others have “just happened to” stop by the stand with the chocolate specialties for the third time. And somewhere, there’s bound to be someone standing with a hot cup of mulled wine in hand, claiming it’s “just to warm up.” Of course, a stroll through The Hague’s festively lit streets is also part of the experience. Passing historic buildings, cozy cafés, and squares decked out for winter creates a special atmosphere that brings every team together. By the time you take the group photo in front of the twinkling lights, it becomes clear that there’s always one colleague who blinks right as the shutter clicks.
Whether as a cozy end-of-year gathering, a winter company outing, or a festive Christmas party—The Hague combines the charm of a historic city with the magic of the Advent season. Not only are beautiful memories made here, but also plenty of stories that will have everyone laughing for a long time to come. And if, in the end, there were more Christmas cookies than steps counted—then it was probably just an all-around successful Christmas party.
