The Significance of the GDPR for Festaz/Onemotion and Partner Companies

What is the GDPR?
The General Data Protection Regulation (DSGVO in Germany) is an EU-wide regulation (GDPR) that will take effect on May 25, 2018. This regulation governs the protection of customer privacy and will apply uniformly across all EU countries.

What does the introduction of the GDPR mean for you?
The introduction of the GDPR addresses issues such as the “right to be forgotten” and the protection of privacy. Data protection is a top priority for Festaz/Onemotion, so we ask our partners to comply with this new regulation by, for example, visiting the following website: GDPR Website.

We recommend that all partners conduct a risk analysis regarding the security of customer data and privacy. We would like to highlight two important points in connection with the GDPR. We consider this to be extremely important:

1. That our partners do not add forwarded email addresses to newsletters without having obtained the customer’s explicit consent (also known as “opt-in”). Of course, this was already prohibited, but unfortunately it continues to happen. Under the new GDPR, this will be strictly penalized in the future.
2. That our partners do not share customer data with third parties without having received explicit permission to do so.
